Ivy Writerly is a literary essayist and quiet observer of the human condition. Her work explores the delicate terrain between hurt and healing—grief without theatrics, longing without resolution, and the soft ache of memory that never quite leaves. Blending poetry and prose, Ivy’s voice is both intimate and unflinching, often stitched from fragments, journal entries, and the things we all feel but rarely say aloud.
She is the author of Soft Things That Hurt, What Still Lingers, The Art of Being Almost, and several other introspective works. Her books have been described as “a balm for the quietly bruised” and “the kind of writing that doesn’t ask to be fixed—only felt.” In addition to her books, Ivy hosts River Readers, a seasonal gathering of thoughtful readers and reflective conversation, and co-hosts the podcast What Is This Fuckery?, which explores the mess, magic, and madness of writing and creative living.
Ivy also writes for fellow writers on Medium, sharing raw reflections and process notes, and maintains a deeply personal Substack where essays arrive like letters to old friends. Her work is for the ones still sorting through the silence—one sentence at a time.
